Martin Scorsese's Squarespace Commercial Has Arrived

No one notices all those UFOs

Which brand will take home the 2024 Super Clio for the best Super Bowl commercial? We'll find out on Feb. 12.

With our faces glued to digital screens every blessed second—brains engrossed in Wordle or the latest Super Bowl news on Muse—visiting space aliens might go undetected.

How could off-worlders snag our attention?

In Martin Scorsese's Big Game debut, they trumpet their presence through Squarespace, illustrating the band's mantra: "A Website Makes It Real."

Squarespace | Hello Down There

"At my age, it's a stretch finding a directorial debut," Scorsese says in press materials. "When Squarespace first approached me to create a spot, I thought this was my shot. Let's go big, let's do something out of this world—space guys building a website."

He adds: "I'm a New Yorker. We're busy, always on the move. Would we even notice extraterrestrials living among us?"

Martin's such a legend. You expect greatness. And he basically delivers. The work's fluid, engaging and visually dynamic, loaded with classic invader-flick footage for true fans—including 1956's charmingly cheesy Warning From Space.

So, 9.5 out of 10 from me, Marty. Print out this post, keep it next to your Best Director Oscar and all those other awards.

Squarespace's in-house team helped develop the project. A :30 will roll in the game, marking the brand's 10th SB appearance.

Adland's brimming with Close Encounters these days. In addition to Squarespace, We've seen such themes probed by MoonpiesVisitLEX and Geico. An Apartments.com SB entry with Jeff Goldblum will also feature ETs.
