Back in the summer, we wrote about the launch of Google' new YouTube Music app and the out-of-home campaign that promoted it with the twin themes "Open the World of Music" and "It's All Here."
This month, the next phase of that campaign launched. It has included TV spots—two of which have made this week's list of the most Shazam'd commercials.
The two spots are very different. The first one, at No. 4 on the Shazam list, shows about 24 seconds of the music video for "Taki Taki," the song by DJ Snake featuring Selena Gomez, Ozuna and Cardi B. The ad then prompts the viewer to "Watch the full video in the new YouTube Music app." (YouTube has been positioning the app as the place where fans can get everything—including videos—not just stream music.)
The second spot, at No. 7 on the Shazam list, is more of a traditional pitch for the app. It stars and is narrated by Dua Lipa, who tells of being inspired by her fellow female artists—and hoping to be an inspiration herself.
That spot features "Electricity," a track from Silk City and Dua Lipa featuring Diplo and Mark Ronson. The theme is "Open the world of Dua Lipa."
The only other ad that's new to the Shazam list this week is a spot for the PlayStation Vue, at No. 10, featuring the track "About To Get Crazy" by Oh the Larceny.
