From Gemini Man to Child's Play, See This Week's New Trailers and Posters

Plus, AOC and the X-Men

This week in entertainment marketing we saw superheroes transform into villains and vice versa, as well as real-life heroes and real-life villains. And as an extra bonus, we got to see a glimpse of Will Smith kicking his own ass! 

Here's a look back at some of the notable trailers and posters we saw this week.


Child's Play

Agency: Buddha Jones

Guess who returned to scare a new generation? That's right, everyone's favorite Buddi. Orion Pictures is bringing Chuckie, the killer doll, back to life on June 21. The new trailer introduces us to the app-operated doll who is ready for a killer time.  


Knock Down the House

In 2018, 529 women ran for Congress. In the new Netflix documentary Knock Down the House, we get an inside look at the lives, obstacles and goals of four of those women, including social media darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Watch barriers be broken on May 1. 


Dark Phoenix

The X-Men crew are back in action on June 7. This time, Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel are coming together to tell the tale of Jean Grey and her transformation into the Dark Phoenix. The new trailer gives a look at the rise of darkness and the conundrum faced by the X-Men team as they try to save their fallen teammate. 


At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal

HBO's newest documentary investigates the sexual abuse scandal that stunned the sports world in 2017. The trailer goes inside the lives of the young women who were abused by Dr. Larry Nassar, the osteopathic physician for the U.S. women's Olympic gymnastics team—as well as the court hearing where the young victims fought together to have their voices finally heard. Hear the story that should have never had to be told on May 3. 


Gemini Man

Will Smith is back, and this time there's two of him! Gemini Man, Ang Lee's newest action film, looks at the hurdles of cloning a trained killer. The trailer highlights the remarkable CGI advancements made over the last decade, by showing a younger Will Smith, who resembles exactly the young man we watched come of age onscreen. See Will Smith do double time on Oct. 11. 


Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

Gear up for an action-packed three minutes in the new trailer for Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham take on the "black superman" himself, Idris Elba. There's even a little Māori action mixed in! Universal Pictures' latest franchise installment speeds into theaters on Aug. 2.


NOS4A2

The teaser for AMC's newest series NOS4A2 will give you the chills. It's not just the creaking floors, or the eerie weather, or even the scary old man that makes this teaser memorable—it's the choice of music. Christmas never seemed so scary. Prepare to be frozen with fear on June 2. 


The Hustle

You know The Avengers, now meet The Revengers, in MGM Studios' latest comedy The Hustle. The newest trailer for the film takes a look at the con-artist duo played by Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson as they venture on the hunt for justice against the men who have wronged them. Experience the sweet taste of revenge on May 10.


Godzilla: King of the Monsters

In the newest trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, mankind has only one hope for survival—Godzilla. The latest trailer includes a brilliant use of music—juxtaposing destructive visuals with the inspiring classic "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." See Warner Bros. Pictures' battle of the monsters on May 31.
