Grand Clio Winners: McCann New York's 'True Name' for Mastercard

Inside the ingenious credit-card innovation for trans and nonbinary people

Grand Clio: Integrated Campaign
Grand Clio: Innovation
Entrant: McCann New York
Brand: Mastercard
Campaign: "True Name"

Since credit cards were invented, they've always used people's legal names—which makes perfect sense, unless you're trans or nonbinary. And if you haven't changed your name, which can be difficult in many states, this can be dangerous.

Mastercard found an inspiring solution with True Name, which won Grand Clio in both Innovation and Integrated Campaign this year. In the video above, hear more about the campaign from Pierre Lipton, global executive creative director at McCann XBC, and Lucas Crigler, associate creative director at McCann New York.
