HBO Max Made Cannabis Gummies Inspired by the Characters in Its New Animated Comedy

Tasty promo with Kahna for Close Enough

Sure, you could microwave some popcorn to go with Close Enough, HBO Max's surreal animated comedy about a married couple, their 5-year-old daughter, assorted neurotic friends, time-traveling snails, stripper clowns and murderous mannequins.

But why not dive into the subversive spirit of the series—from J.G. Quintel, creator of the Emmy Award-winning Regular Show—and indulge in cannabis-infused gummies based on Close Enough characters instead?

The edibles, made by Sunderstorm's Kanha brand, are available in select California dispensaries and for delivery via online marijuana marketplace Eaze through month's end. The program itself debuts this Thursday, July 9.

"Our show features characters that use cannabis, and there's a significant amount of crossover with our audience and those who enjoy it," says Peter Sherman, svp of HBO Max program marketing at WarnerMedia, which developed the promo and partnership with Movement Agency.

We're told each of four flavors—Indica Strawberry, Sativa Pineapple, Hybrid Watermelon and Pink Lemonade—reflects the personality and temperament of an adult character on the show.

Here are the product descriptions provided by HBO:

JOSH
Cool dad, husband, and future world-famous video-game designer, Josh likes to chill with his Indica Strawberry Gummies.

EMILY
Emily is logical, organized, a planner — everything her husband Josh is not. She's a loving mother and a strong working woman who tries to have it all. Busy mom Emily gets it done with her Sativa Pineapple Gummies.

ALEX
Alex is Josh's neurotic best friend from high school. He lives in the walk-in closet of the apartment he shares with Josh, Emily, Candice, and Bridgette (his ex-wife, but it's not a big deal). When Alex wants to get lost in thought, he stays cool and carries on with his Hybrid Watermelon Gummies.

BRIDGETTE
Bridgette is a glamorous social media influencer — at least in her mind. "Working" is more of a hobby she squeezes in between partying. Bridgette stays on top of partying and her social game with her 1:1 Pink Lemonade Gummies.

Because pineapple's all about "getting things done," especially when you're sucking on pot-candy!

After downing a few, know what you'll be doing? Popping extra corn to quell those munchies, that's what.

"This is the first time HBO Max or WarnerMedia has ever created an actual cannabis product," Sherman says. Previously, the media company partnered with others on activations for High Maintenance, at one point transforming a New York City smokestack into a gigantic joint.

In January, Guy Ritchie's narco-thriller The Gentlemen from STX Entertainment premiered with an all-pot promo poster created by multimedia artist Zach "Jesushands" Fernandez.
