#WFH Diaries: Danni Venne of Man Made Music

As the pandemic continues, most folks are still working from home—and may be for a long time to come. We're checking in with creative people to see how they've been faring in their new setups. Below, we hear from Danni Venne, group creative director and lead producer at Man Made Music.

Give us a one-line bio of yourself.

What do you call a music producer, trans-feminine, guitarist, queerdo, single parent, aquarian who's originally from Wisconsin?

Where are you living right now, and who's with you?

In the morning, I shout out my window "BROOKLYN WHO'S WITH ME!?" My daughters Fiona (10) and Cece (7) reply, "Danni, stop shouting!" Then I know they are awake and need feeding.

What's your work situation like at the moment, and how is it evolving?

At the beginning of the pandemic I didn't get to sit on a big white floofy stool wearing a kimono to edit in Pro Tools. Now, I own a big white floofy stool and I really hope someone buys me a kimono.

Describe your socializing strategy.

Never break eye contact and remember to say the other person's name often. As my grandpa used to say, "Even a dog likes to hear his own name"

How are you dealing with childcare?

"Is there blood? No? Then I don't wanna hear about it." Also, $1 to anyone who will do the dishes and $2 to clean the bathroom.

What are you reading?

My parents said there's no such thing as a bad book, which is why I print out and bind paper copies of my Instagram feed every hour.

What are you watching?

The neighbor couple eating their cute little dinner every night at 6:30.

What are you listening to?

I think it might be classical music because there aren't any lyrics or guitar solos. But I can't be sure of that.

How are you staying fit?

At night I scamper across the rooftops and rummage in people's trash looking for an earring that I lost last summer.

Have you taken up a hobby?

Not since receiving a lifetime ban from the Hobby Lobby.

Any tips for getting necessities?

Before the lockdown, I pilfered all the toilet paper and hand sanitizer from work, so that really helps. Also, if you go outside early enough in the morning there are sometimes boxes of food sitting on people's front steps that can provide you with fresh produce and dairy.

An awkward moment since all this started.

When Trump denied all responsibility. What a goof!

Best work email you got since all this started.

They're all such precious memories, please don't ask me to pick a favorite.

An aha! moment since all this started.

When my kids walked in on me and had to learn all at once that the Easter Bunny, Santa and the Tooth Fairy are not real. Aha!

What's your theory on how this is going to play out?

Trump will say he's been kidding all along and gracefully hand over power to the Elizabeth Warren administration.
