PETA U.K. Made a Faux-Jolly (Most Upsetting) 'Pig Farm' Cartoon Musical

From Grey London and director Jeff Low

Welcome to an unsettling musical cartoon soaked in bloody carnage, social satire and pointed irony.

If that sounds like a new Liquid Death campaign ... well, it's not. Though animal-rights charity PETA in the U.K. certainly borrows from the LD creative stylebook.

Without further ado, let's visit the "Pig Farm." Upsetting imagery abounds, so be warned. But, really, the hogs endure much worse:

After watching that, we'll just have the salad, thanks.

Jeff Low, a master of commercial absurdity, directed the film and wrote the dark-humored happy-happy track. Grey London developed the project and cites inspirations ranging from Cuphead to Red & Stimpy. (It all derives from Looney Toons—the melodies, muted color schemes and couching adult themes in silliness.)

"PETA's goal is to challenge the status quo and make people think, and the innovative team at Grey has achieved that with this shareable video," says Mimi Bekhechi, VP of the organization's U.K., Europe and Australia operations

"By pairing disturbing cartoon imagery with a catchy song, we believe the memorable spot will shift attitudes and remind people that every piece of bacon was once a thinking, feeling being who desperately wanted to live," she says.

Low adds: "One-hundred years from now people will not understand how we could have done what we do to these animals. I hope you 'enjoy' the cartoon we made."

The work sings and dances its sad way across PETA platforms starting today.
