These Barbie Trends Are Blowing Up on TikTok

The movie inspired challenges, fashion choices and so much merch

From the "Ordinary Barbie" trend, which has people challenging conventional beauty standards, to the oh-so-bright "Barbiecore" fashion obsession, which involves lots of pink, creators are flooding TikTok with content inspired by the blockbuster Warner Bros. movie

Here, we introduce you to three creators who are part of the conversation in fun ways...

My arches are aching from watching TikTokers partake in the "Barbie Feet" challenge, which requires participants to slip into high heels—and then step out of them while remaining on their tippy toes (like Barbie does in the movie). Alessandra Mercedes did really well on her first try, and even better when she employed sticky tape to keep her shoes from sliding. Footwear brands take note: Mercedes, who has nearly 86,000 followers, has an impressive collection that includes Tom Ford Disco Platform heels, Rene Caovilla Chandelier heels and Versace Aevitas platform boots.

People are turning up to see the Barbie movie in serious "Barbiecore" fashion. Before she got all dolled up to attend a screening, Abby Bible, who describes herself as an unapologetic fat gal and fashion lover, asked her nearly 200,000 followers to help select her wardrobe. Bible ultimately donned a bright pink dress paired with super-cool silver knee-high boots. She notes that attending the Barbie movie was more than just a fun excuse to dress up—it was also a way for many women to feel seen. Aside from her recent Barbie forays, this charismatic fashionista has posted about shopping at a vintage clothing store and putting together outfits to wear with her new Ugg Aww Yeah platform slides.

TikTok fans are showing off sundry Barbie movie merch (as if you didn't know). One of the most talked-about items is the Barbie car popcorn bucket, which you can purchase as part of a Barbie bundle at AMC theaters. Matt Vaughn, a collector who goes by The Doll Aisle on TikTok, nabbed one and fielded questions about the cute, collectible Corvette. Vaughn says he'll be using it "forever for chips, candy, popcorn, you name it." He knows a lot about Barbie history and has an incredible cache ranging from Peaches 'n Cream Barbie to Met Gala Moschino edition.
